
As the Blount County landfill begins to fill and waste disposal costs continue to increase, if you haven't considered recycling, it is time to think about it. As you look around Chestnut Ridge when the trash is put out you see many items that can be recycled but yet are just taken to the landfill. Cans, cardboard, paper, plastics of all sorts and more. Most waste disposal operators in the area do have recycling pickup, so it is the citizen's responsibility to take care of recyclables. Blount County has made it easy with it's new recycling facility.
The Recycling Containers are broken down as follows:
- Single sort (means you do not shave to sort) paper, magazines, plastics(#1 - #7) and more.
- Cardboard Only. Clean Cardboard.
- Plastic Shopping Bags
- Oil Base Paints
- 4ft & 8ft Florescent Lights
Below is a list of acceptable items and also those items that are not allowed. Glass of any kind is not allowed.
